What Im Listening To #8
[Archived in Entry]
[ Orange Days] I usually list 5 songs I’m enjoying at the moment, but this time around there’s simply too many for me to choose from. So here’s 10 songs including samples of what I listen to:

[Cityofsound.com] cityofsound: Socialising mp3-based music listening: With music (and perhaps other similar cultural fields), in any given social group (whether <5, <50, or <150), there's always those whose job it is to make the mixtapes, to DJ at parties, to share their playlists, who others turn to for music recommendations. Combine that complex local knowledge with the blunter tool of 'the math' (as Lucas Gonze notes in the comments at Many2Many) by passing collaborative filtering over these enormous aggregations of data from systems like these, and we could be on to something.
[Insomniaradio.net] Insomnia Radio: Phil from Bitjobs will be debuting Chance’s new single, Independent, on BFM 126. As not only a Chance fan, but someone who listens to a boatload of music, this is probably Chance’s best work to date.
[Themorningnews.org] The Morning News - Roundtable: Mp3 Bloggers, by The Editors: The two most likely replacements are bootleggers and mp3 bloggers, and my sympathies are with the latter since we don’t charge, we distribute worldwide, and our products don’t wind up supporting eBay’s bottom line. I do understand copyright law, but there comes a point where my desire to defend, for example, Hilly Michaels’s (or his record company’s) right to keep his product off the market loses out to the fact that a fantastic album has missed an entire music-buying generation.
[Songzilla.blogspot.com] MP3, Music & the Internet: Digital M4 from Songzilla [an MP3 Blog ...: The MP3 tool here on the Songzilla blog is an attempt to aggregate these promotional Internet releases for the shared benefit of the listener and artist, and so that we can all enjoy good, new music. IF you like what you hear - seek the artist out - adopt them - bring them to the ears of the world!
[Arjanwrites.com] :: arjanwrites music blog ::: All streaming audio or rare MP3s (demo tracks, acoustic versions and such) or short audio clips are up for a limited time and are for promotional and sampling purposes only. Full MP3 files will only be posted if they're made available free of charge by the copyright holder.
[devious bloggery] jasonpreu.com Presents: Rap Music History #12: Because more important to me than the paths the two bands followed is that I feel about The Beastie Boys the way I imagine Beatles fans feel: that there is an unbreakable bond between myself and the music and that the music and the group, goofy as they were at times, spoke for me and my peers and our love of skating and rap and punk and dressing up in costumes and being annoying at times and being concerned at times and doing it all with a sense of humor. I don’t really know that The Beasties have had the reach of The Beatles, our little self-contained B-Boy cult probably skewed my perception of their fanbase.
