Unexpected Advertising
[Archived in Entry, Mp3 Players Ipod]
Bob on 2003/12/18:
„There was an "MP3" section in the electronics department, no iPods listed (although they do sell them at target.com). On the wall was a photo of a man and a woman, and the man is saying "I heard those MP3 players are much better than that darn MP2." I thought about a nice sticker to place under the quote that says "And the iPod does MP3 and MP4." But I digress.“

„In the second edition of Advertising on the Internet, authors and Net advertising professionals Robbin Zeff and Brad Aronson survey the current state of advertising online. Though many of the concepts the authors present are extensions of traditional advertising issues, the book offers a very comprehensive view of special international considerations, legal restrictions and cautions, targeting techniques, online ad models, direct marketing, Web measurement, pricing models, selling ads, buying ads, market research, international advertising, legal issues, and advertising for free (or almost).“http://gateway.library.uiuc.edu/cmx/books/2000-1/ advertising.htm - Cached
„Establishing a trusted brand is very costly as it requires significant advertising expenditure in addition to the purchase of expensive technology (as security and privacy are key to gaining customer approval).“http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pubs/speeches/sp46.html - Cached
„On March 15, 1999, Just for Feet sued Saatchi and Saatchi for $10 million, arguing the Super Bowl commercial was so bad it amounted to advertising malpractice. "Saatchi & Saatchi assured Just for Feet that the commercial Saatchi conceived and produced would be well received by the public," reads the complaint, filed in federal district court in Birmingham, Ala. "Instead, as a direct consequence of Saatchi's appallingly unacceptable and shockingly unprofessional performance, Just for Feet's favorable reputation has come under attack, its reputation has suffered, and it has been subjected to the entirely unfounded and unintended public perception that it is a racist or racially insensitive company." Far from glorifying the company's role in advancing civilization and promoting social betterment, Just for Feet argues, the ad creates the impression that the footwear retailer is "racist, culturally insensitive and condescending, [and] promotes drugs." This impression, the company states in its complaint, "is contrary to the deepest held principles of Just for Feet, which has always sought to promote racial harmony, finds racism abhorrent, and condemns drug use."“http://www.salonmagazine.com/media/col/shal/1999/05/28/kenya/ print.html - Cached
„After such a lame tradeshow experience atTECHXNY/ PC Expo, Julie and I were really looking forward to returning to theConsumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The last time we attended, in2002, we were both quite impressed with not only the number of vendors, but also the number of attendees. Let's face it - you can have the greatest show on earth, but if no one is there to see it, then the show won't go on...“http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/ ces-2004-article.html - Cached
„ExtremeTech review of the Dimension 4600C Media Center PC, Dell's new desktop PC running the new 2004 of Windows XP Media Center, Microsoft's new version of the Windows operating system which is designed for recording television like a TiVo, organizing and playing your MP3 collection, looking at your digital photo album, etc. Interestingly enough, the 4600C also has Dell's "Media Experience" software installed on it which does almost the same thing, with the main difference between the two types of media software being that“http://www.stargeek.com/item/46312.html - Cached
„Before I get to the fun stuff, let's take a look at the actual components, starting with the third generation iPod. Powered by the latest version of its software (version 2.1), this pocket sized FireWire hard drive can play music virtually forever, store text notes, display calendar appointments, record interviews (via the Belkin Voice Recorder), wake you up in the morning, entertain you with games, and, now, store your digital photos. And if you are carrying around the 40 GB model in your camera bag, you can store a lot of photos.“ posted on 2004/07/27http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2003/12/02/ photo_ipod.html - Cached
