[Radar.oreilly.com] O'Reilly Radar > Podcast support in next version of iTunes: At the Wall Street Journal's D Conference, Steve Jobs tonight showed ipodder-like features in the next release of iTunes, supposedly available within about 60 days. I was glad to see this, since the "architecture of participation" has been the only one of the big Web 2.0 themes that Apple had seemed to be missing. He was slightly dismissive of populist podcasting, describing it as "Wayne's World for radio", and celebrating the arrival of professional radio stations into the market, but nonetheless, he was very high on the podcasting phenomenon, and the excitement that millions of users have displayed about it.

He's been here for quite awhile, in fact he got his US citizenship right before the last election. For him, the US passport is a guarantee of safety if he goes back someday. Chatting with him last summer, I remember that he said he liked Republicans because they were never afraid of sending troops to Liberia to kick out a dictator.

No, I'm puzzled because Apple, like HP, is in the hardware business, and has stated that iTunes is primarily a way of promoting its hardware. I predict that HP will find it difficult to keep up as Apple ensure that its own hardware works best or has the richest features, in the context of iTunes. HP would be better to stick with Microsoft - another difficult partner, for sure, but not a direct competitor in the same sense.
