Online Costello Covers
[Changing Way] I’ve been listening to more music recently than I have in a few years, largely thanks to two online music subscription services: Rhapsody and Yahoo! Unlimited. I’ve also used iTunes a little over the last year or so.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Elkit in Wonderland] She Said Darling, I'm In Love With Your Mind: Buzz passes me A Musical Baton, and even though I already answered these questions a few months ago, I'll happily run with it again. My musical taste definitely comes in flavors of the month, and I enjoy seeing what I'm into at different times. So let's see .
[jimthompson.org] New Music Tuesday: I normally don’t care for those chain letters that come around by email, the ones where you’re supposed to answer a bunch of questions then send the letter on to a bunch of people you know. I’ve seen one, though, that I like because it’s short and it’s about music. So here goes:
[Asterisk | D. Keith Robinson's Web Design Blog.] Separation Sunday by The Hold Steady: The Album: Separation Sunday | Buy it from iTunes IMG icon Released 2005 Recommended if you like: Lifter Puller, Bruce Springstein, Elvis Costello, Pavement, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Built...s his first time. But hes got a itch hes gotta scratch and I can back him up on this one, if youve
[Andytown] Music Reviews: Ryan Adams and more: Aimee Mann, The Forgotten Arm - Ive only listened to The Forgotten Arm twice since I got it off ITunes, and I agree with most of the reviews that say TFA is more of the same from Aimee Mann. However, in these cases, its meant as a criticism, and I will use it as a supreme compliment. Its classic Mann - self-effacing, probing, funny, full of raw conversational poetry about relationships and coping with the way the world sees you - and not a word of it pretentious or prophetic.
[TexasGigs] QuickDFW Band of the Week: The Sickle & the Sheaves was promoted to national national college radio by the Planetary Group, Fall 2003 as Doug’s first radio campaign, and was spun on 100+ stations with medium or better rotation. The Sickle & the Sheaves is available for digital download on major download sites such as iTunes and Rhapsody, and has been picked up for Southwestern regional store distribution by Crystal Clear Distribution.
[Samoht.com] samoht.com weblog : /Music/: I didn't expect to really love it, especially at 99c per song. But, even though their inventory is missing many of the things I've searched for (Zappa, for one), I'm very much hooked on this service. Being able to browse quickly amongst a lot of different genres and artists and being able to hear 30-second excerpts is such a huge (legal) boon! I've been turned on to a few new (to me) artists just by browsing around: The Bad Plus, Stereolab, and James, to name a few.
[Changingway.net] Changing Way: Elvis Costello is one of my favorite musicians, and, in particular, favorite songwriters. I have a weakness for cover versions. So I decided to put together a little playlist of covers involving EC.
[Stnate.blogspot.com] Saint Nate's Blog: Out of Chaos ...: Like Steven Levy, Ive often wondered how random, exactly, iTunes really is. On my work computer I have 4,986 songs ranging from the Carmens seductive aria Habanera to DMXs poignant spoken word poem Sometimes, but Ive noticed that when I turn the shuffle on some songs get played once or twice in the same day while others languish for months. The end result is a very lopsided curve when I arrange songs by play count that often doesnt reflect how much I particularly like each individual number.
