Audioscrobbler Update & MusicMobs
fling93 on 2004/01/17:
„I previously blogged on Audioscrobbler in an earlier post. Basically, you download a plugin for your MP3 player, and it automatically keeps track of which songs, artists, and albums you listen to the most. The idea being that you can find other users with similar tastes to discover new artists (and it protects your privacy — you only provide a username, not an e-mail address). They’ve recently moved to a new server, so there’ve been some hiccups.“

Linux for Deskflops
self on 2003/11/21:
„Hah! If you want to see the barrier to desktop Linux's acceptance, watch over my shoulder one day as I try to use KDE or Gnome to do ordinary tasks such as keeping my MP3 player running if any other sound is emitted (oh yeah, guessing which processes are audio ones so that I can then manually Kill them hoping that I got the right one is reaaaal user friendly) or downloading and installing a new application. Fabulous end user experiences. Lord love Linux and godspeed to it, but desktop Linux is so Windows 3.0.“

News on demand
Fiona on 2003/09/01:
„It would be ideal if radio news junkies could queue up a series of programming overnight, download it to CD-RW, MP3 player or a minidisc in the morning, and enjoy current affairs from all over the country and all over the world while communting and at work.“

Buymusic.com Update
Lunabean on 2003/07/27:
„My dad called me yesterday to say he had read the LunaBlog earlier in the week and was excited to see the link to Buymusic.com , Buy.com's entry into the pay per song download market. My dad is one of the people who has spent a good chunk of money on the best MP3 player out there, the iPod for Windows, but has been left out as he's not a file sharer, he doesn't have that many CDs, and he thought there would be some quality service available to him where he could legally download music. Sadly, there isn't, and Buymusic.com, an OK option for most PC downloaders, has left my dad out in the cold because their downloads are in .wma format, which iPods don't read.“

What's up Doc?
Andrew Grumet on 2003/07/22:
„Hint: rather than clicking on the word "Listen in", which may cause your browser to download the entire file before playing it, try copy/pasting the hyperlink (http://media.skybuilders.com/lydon/searls.mp3) into the Open URL or Open Location option in your mp3 player. This will give the player a chance to play the file as it downloads.“
