iPod minis selling like hotcakes
Niclas Lindh on 2004/03/05:
„There were a lot of misunderstandings and plenty of doom and gloom whining when Apple announced the iPod minis. They were too expensive; they had too little storage space; they couldn’t compete with flash-based mp3 players in the same price range. The Core Dump predicted the little things would sell well .“

irock (really, I do)
Brian on 2004/02/05:
„If you've been following my MP3 player antics , you'll know I've been reviewing flash MP3 players. I've posted reviews of the Rio Fuse and irock 860 . The latter is really one nice piece of work.“

My take on Apple's iPod mini
hyndman on 2004/01/08:
„Jobs spoke of the 30% of the MP3 player market that is "high-end flash players." Apple will own this market in 6-12 months.“

Early CES looks
Keith Shaw on 2004/01/08:
„I was impressed with new USB flash drive devices from Lexar Media, which was showing new ways to take the tiny device typically used for file transfer and storage and add applications or additional features (such as MP3 players and security).“

Too many digital music players
gen on 2004/01/08:
„Schrader said. That means that consumers who already have music stored on flash memory or hard drives in other formats, like MP3 or Windows Media, would have to convert it to Atrac to play in Sony players.“

MacWorld Expo
Luis on 2004/01/07:
„Jobs then focuses on the fact that some 60% of the market in MP3 players are flash-memory, talking about the cost and low storage ability for songs. Obviously leading up to the mini-iPods. Says they're going after this market.“

small size, big price
Tamar on 2004/01/06:
„If the point was to compete with the flash MP3 players (and according to his comments during the keynote, that was exactly the point) then why price the thing so much higher? If you offer iPod quality and a much bigger capacity (4 gig rather than 256 meg) but at a similar price point, you wipe the floor with your competition. And you stand strong even after your competition comes out with 4 gig models of their own (which sounds like it'll happen soon).“

iPod Mini
cedric on 2004/01/06:
„It's 5 Gb (1000 songs says Steve, adjust with the Jobs distortion factor accordingly), thinner and lighter than the competition. It's priced at $250, $50 more than the average MP3 Flash players.“

There was a time where everything I owned was Sony
kwc on 2003/11/11:
„Personal complaints: their DVD players are boring (Gateway sells a more interesting player), their laptops haven't improved since they used to be bleeding edge, Toshiba makes a cooler TiVo (w/ DVD recorder), the PS3 and PSP are way off, even Apple has a cheaper price point, their MP3 player line is stagnant and user-disfriendly, memory stick is almost as fragmented as all of the other flash memory types combined (Memory Stick, MagicGate, Duo, PRO), their wireless technology is absurdly overpriced... “

Digital Music Hits the Road
JD Lasica on 2003/06/12:
„From today's NY Times Circuits section: Digital Music Hits the Road. Excerpt: Even the smallest flash-memory MP3 players can hold an hour or two of music, and hard-drive-based players like the Archos Jukebox or the Apple iPod can hold thousands...“
