Buymusic.com Update
[Archived in Entry, Mp3 Player Download]
Lunabean on 2003/07/27:
„My dad called me yesterday to say he had read the LunaBlog earlier in the week and was excited to see the link to Buymusic.com , Buy.com's entry into the pay per song download market. My dad is one of the people who has spent a good chunk of money on the best MP3 player out there, the iPod for Windows, but has been left out as he's not a file sharer, he doesn't have that many CDs, and he thought there would be some quality service available to him where he could legally download music. Sadly, there isn't, and Buymusic.com, an OK option for most PC downloaders, has left my dad out in the cold because their downloads are in .wma format, which iPods don't read.“

Some slightly related:
„PC users are beginning to realize that Mac users have it better . USA Today agrees . And for a really strange bit, some artists have figured out that the reason BuyMusic offers a few tracks for 79 cents is that they found a way around paying royalties to the artists - all of the 79 cent tracks are from a distributor called "Orchard" that has contract-foo to screw the artists over.“http://www.billstevenson.org/news/2003/07/ buymusiccom_con.html - Cached

„BuyMusic is absurd enough to have non-uniform rights for the songs that you download, so each song you download may have drastically different burn/transfer rights (yes it's probably a matter of the record companies causing this situation, but tough for BuyMusic). I have 2400+ songs on my iPod. Imagine having to keep track of 2400 different "content usage rules." Given BuyMusic propensity to copy everything Apple does (right down to the font), lets hope this is one more thing they learn to copy.“http://www.pqbon.com/1010blog-archive/ 2003_10.html#000297 - Cached

„I think it's an interesting concept for a show (four families get a completely empty house and have to decorate it with the help of a designer and the family who does the best job wins the house). I thought it was funny how they paired the hardest working families with the flakiest designers. If I had to work with that Barclay, I would have killed him already.“http://www.fresh-hell.com/weblog/archives/ 2003_09.htm - Cached
„If people don't know what you're referring to even better, but if it somehow the unnamed allegation you were deny gets out, and people start saying, for example, that you are a grope-monkey, you have to proceed to step 2, which is to combine your denial with an apology. Here's a pretty good example:“http://kwc.org/blog/archives/ cat_news_world.html#000865 - Cached
