Apple Pushes Release of New iPod to Q4

[Archived in Apple, Entry, iPod, iTunes]

http://son-of-a-pitch.blogspot.com [SON-OF-A-PITCH] In addition, TS' senior editor Ryan Katz reports that "multiple sources have stressed that Apple will not launch the video iPod without a movie agreement in place and that a movie store will not open without the video iPod." In other words, "Apple wants to sell movies affordably a-la-carte as it does with music, but Hollywood wants a subscription deal."

http://eptiger.blogspot.com [Inside the Mind of a Nerd] Apple Switching to Windows?: The idea is that they would end up in a deadlock and neither format would win, and his arguments are better than Dvorak's for an Apple switch. I half wouldn't be surprised if this was true because it really would mean a lot of good things for Microsoft, though I feel the end result is a bit unlikely.

[Robert Paterson's Weblog] Apple and the Future - a contrarian view - the... : The thing I think is missing from the newsweek piece, possibly it's to trite to say, but Apple has created dial-tone out of something that everyone else has made confusingly shite. If you plug into the "iTone", your players work, your video streams, it's all integrated, and the controls/UI are simple enough for a layperson to grasp.

[Scobleizer: Microsoft Geek Blogger] A new kind of conversation is needed with... : I'm playing with some secret new technology that makes the tech blogging world even flatter. Not from Microsoft (the inventor asked me to keep it quiet until he's ready to release it).

http://www.makeyougohmm.com [Things That ”¦ Make You Go Hmm] I’m buying Apple instead of Microsoft stock: They can’t hang their hats on the likes of Halo forever and MSN Spaces, although seemingly a success with a crowd of non early-adopters, is going to have to do much more than push a bunch of tiny Volvo ads to make any serious money and spur on an increased infusion of consumer spending.

[3000 miles from home | aram kudurshian's web site] An Exercise in Patience: iPod shuffle: After reading up on the iPod shuffle, I’ve decided that this is the perfect gym-companion. I’d been looking for a small, light MP3 player for the gym for a few months now.

[YDACS Research Network www.YDACS.com :: Main Page] Will the PSP force Apple: "I've had a chance to play with the PSP a few times over the last few months, but I got a more extensive tryout a couple of weeks ago with EA's launch titles, which include NBA Street Showdown, FIFA 2005, Tiger Woods 2005, MVP Baseball, NFL Street 2 Unleashed, and Need For Speed Rivals. The presentation and graphics aren't quite up to PlayStation 2 levels, but they're darn close, and if you're a fan of any of these titles--and other PS2 games coming to the platform (24 titles will be available at launch)--having them in a portable format is about as killer as it gets.

[Buzzhit.com] Tony Gentile | buzzhit! blog: Apple to Release iTunes for Motorola ...: Apple to Release iTunes for Motorola Phones: "Although the number of songs will be limited to the flash memory storage space inside the phones, most units should be able to hold a few dozen songs, at least, making them the missing piece in Apple's music playback device plan. iPod and iPod mini for those that want a dedicated, large-capacity music device;

http://www.theappleblog.com [Theappleblog.com] NBC Gets on Board at The Apple Blog: This is an interesting development but I hope that for the average consumer Apple can integrate things easily and affordably into a home entertainment system in some other way than building a system using a rather pricey G5. With a totally integrated system, they would own home entertainment for a while with iTunes for music, movies and pay-per episode television while building something better than a TIVO.

[Fashiontribes.typepad.com] Fashiontribes.com: Apple has done it again with the iPod nano ...: Not only is it tiny and adorable, it completely syncs with iTunes and almost every iPod accessory. Plus, since they somehow pulled this feat off sans-hard drive, the Nano has a longer lasting battery.

Digg.comhttp://digg.com [Digg.com] A Recording Engineer's Guide to the Secrets of iTunes and iPod: If your a serious music lover, you aren't going to buy a Rio Mp3 player with a Crappy DAC and 256megs of storage in 1999-2000, it's only been fairly recently that iPods and other PMPs have been a viable alternative to vinyl records and CD's. Most people didn't even have the hard drive space (or the patience) to rip their entire music collection.
